Migration has been defined in many ways, across time and space. Nowadays it is听associated with security, but it has not always been like that. Italy has had a positive听role compared to other countries of the EU, but more and more migration is听associated with security and NGOs dealing with migrants are blamed as human听traffickers.
International migration poses a number of important challenges in today's globalized world. In the last twenty years, the Mediterranean 听has been the center of several migratory routes connecting the Middle East and the Southern rim of the"Mare Nostrum" to Europe. Governmental and non-governmental actors have recently clashed over what is the right way to address the ongoing "migratory crisis". This conference brings together Dr Antonio Marchesi (Professor of International Law and President of Amnesty International Italy), Dr Gabriele Eminente (Director General M茅decins Sans Fronti猫res - MSF) and Dr Lyal Sunga (Professor of International Law, 91视频 and Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law), three leading听 experts who will discuss whether as some claim life-saving operations a threat to security, or rather constitute a necessary response to a humanitarian emergency.
