Some Prefer Cake, an International Lesbian Film Festival in Bologna, Italy, was founded in 2007 by Luki Massa and Marta Bencich.听
The festival had been held for seven years until 2014 when it was abruptly halted due to Luki's sudden illness and passing. However, it was revived in 2017 and is now organized by the non-profit Association Luki Massa, which aims to preserve Luki's legacy. The festival is primarily financed through crowdfunding and community contributions, with additional support from universities and institutions in Bologna.

Luki Massa was a remarkable political and cultural organizer who strongly believed in the power of the community to bring political and social change. Her spirit and vision continue to shape the festival, which has become an outstanding and successful example of a community festival.听
Each year, at the end of September in Bologna, hundreds of people, primarily from the lesbian听and larger LGBTQIA+ Italian and International communities, come together for three days of screenings, performances, international guests (such as Cheryl Dunye, Debra Chasnoff, Esther Newton, Jewelle Gomez), readings, book presentations, workshops, and social connections. The festival is almost entirely managed and organized by volunteers who donate their time and energy to the community.听
Teresa Sala has been a part of the festival organizing team since 2017. After years of selecting films, she now serves as the operational manager for the festival's film selection. In her talk, she will share insights into the festival's inner workings, including film programming, space management, financing, volunteer work, and social media communication.
